Red Bank Catholic Class of 2023 Star OLB Michael Palmieri Gets Ready to Choose School

Red Bank Catholic Class of 2023 Star OLB Michael Palmieri Gets Ready to Choose Home

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 10, 2023

Red Bank, NJ: It was not the ending to their football careers that Michael Palmieri, and the rest of the Red Bank Catholic senior class, wanted.

The defending NJSIAA Non-Public B state champions battled DePaul down to the final minute again in 2022, but ultimately fell 19-17 to finish 10-2.

Palmieri ended the season with 78 tackles, and as a shoe in to add to his individual awards over the next few weeks as the various All-Shore, All-Area, and All-State teams are announced: he has already been named to the First Team All-Division for the second season in a row.

It is fitting for the player, who has worked hard all year round to get better, not just on the football field, but on the wrestling mat and the classroom as well.

Recently, Palmieri received his first offer from Wilkes University after a visit. Here is a list of schools interested in Palmieri, and it is long:

College of the Holy Cross

Central Connecticut State University

Fordham University

Lehigh University

Long Island University

Wagner College

East Stroudsburg University

Pace University

Franklin & Marshall College

Colby College

Fairleigh Dickinson College

Hobart and William Smith Colleges

McDaniel College

Merrimack College

Muhlenberg College

Springfield College

Stevenson University

Susquehanna University

Trinity College

Tufts University

There are some very good academic schools on that list, which is good for Palmieri: he has a 3.5 GPA, and that will most likely increase as he finishes his senior year at Red Bank Catholic.

Here is what a coach said about the star after his junior year:

“He just never stops working. You can tell he will grow into his frame and become a solid size, but he was very effective in 2021, next to Davin Brewton. You know he is strong, too, because he competes at 190-pounds in the Shore Conference with some big dudes on the wrestling mat, and he does very well."

Here is what another coach said about Palmieri after his senior campaign:

“He was the senior leader out there on the field for a very good RBC squad. When you see him out there next to Brewton, next to Portella, Palmieri was able to stand out on tape. He was one of the leader tacklers on the team, and played his outside position very well. He is just so strong and quick to the ball. You just don’t see that combination all the time.

“They were so close to back-to-back titles. He is going to make a coach very happy at the next level, that is for sure. He is just a winner, no matter what he does.
