NJ Hun School Senior Golfer Christian Deussing Parlays Big Season into Gettysburg Commitment

Princeton, NJ: Christian Deussing knew his senior season on the links for the Hun School would be pivotal.

With his team, he also knew it would be a pretty fun campaign. The Raiders had the firepower and were ready to go out there on the courses around the Mercer County area and win many matches.

That is what they did, thanks mainly to Deussing: he finished in the top five individually in both the 2022 Mercer County Tournament and the Prep A Tournament, thanks to dual 73 scores. Hun was the runner-up in the county tournament to Lawrenceville School.

Deussing was able to use that strong finish to his high school career and turn it into an offer to play golf and attend Gettysburg College. He worked hard for four years, lowering his average yearly from 83 to 75.5 in 2022. This dedication is from a player who only started playing the game four years ago and will continue to get better as he plays more.

Off the course, he is an absolute star in the classroom: he has an unweighted 3.9 GPA (out of 4.0) and has already taken five AP classes.

Here is what one of his coaches said about him:

“When you think about the fact that he only just started playing the game right before high school, and we lost a season due to COVID, Christian has grown by leaps and bounds at Hun. He is one of those players that you know will flourish once he gets to college and continues to play rounds. I think he has only just started to scratch the surface of the player he can be.

“I would not be surprised to see him winning some tournaments in a few years at college. He has lowered his average by 11 strokes in three years, so I would think he keeps getting better. I will be very interested to see what he can do and will be following his career in earnest.”
