High School Baseball's '23 Joji Sakata Gets Ready for Massive Senior Season as All-American

Valencia, CA: Castaic High School Class of 2023 outfielder Joji Sakata already has a host of honors under his belt.

He hopes to add to those this year, pick up some more collegiate interest and a few offers, and continue his academic and athletic career at the next level.

At 5'10" and 185 pounds, Sakata has been working hard in the weight room to get bigger and stronger ahead of his final high school year. But his work on the field over the last year has people buzzing.

Sakata has been named a Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American after his Castaic High School Team MVP year last spring. He also picked up First Team All-Foothill League honors after he hit .440 with 11 doubles, three home runs, and 25 RBI.

The outfielder, who is also a left-handed pitcher and first baseman, is one of those baseball players that can have an impact all over the field at critical times in any game, which is why he will be so valuable at the next level.

Sakata is also a hard-working student (3.45 GPA), which will help him search for a college.

This will be a big year for the senior, and if you talk to scouts about him, they expect Sakata to continue to rake in interest and offers in 2023. Here is what one said:

"Before I talk about his hitting, I want to say a couple things about his arm. Anytime you have a lefty that can get it up around 85 in high school, there is potential there that he could become a valuable arm in college. Sakata could be big out of the pen. But he is very valuable on the field and at the plate: he is a complete hitter and has power to both gaps. He will get bigger and stronger in the next couple of years, and that power should continue to develop. Whoever brings him onto campus is going to get a potential star."
