Contact@GoMVB.com Ocala, FL: Before Hunter Schaller's father passed away earlier this month, he told his son to go out and get as much exposure as possible to get a college football scholarship.
And that's exactly what Hunter has been doing. Even though he is only a freshman at Forest High School (Fla.)!
Schaller, a wide receiver who stands at 5-10 and 155 pounds, was coached as a youth by his dad, who never missed a football or basketball when Hunter was growing up.
"He told me it's never too early to get yourself noticed,'' Hunter told GoMVB. "If you get used to the media attention and the recruiting process, by the time you are a junior or a senior, you will understand how the process works. and you will be prepared.''
But you still have to be able to play. Although its only been a small sample size, the kid looks like he can bring it.
Schaller was beginning to make a name for himself at rival Belleview High School in 2022, starting as a wide out, recording a handful of passes and scoring a touchdown. He was even chosen as the 'Freshman of the Week' by a local newspaper.
But he only played in three games when his season had to be shut down because of a back injury. During his rehabilitation process, Schaller transferred to Forest. Schaller is expected to be fully healed and ready for basketball season, then spring football.
This coming summer, Schaller accepted an invitation to attend You Are Athlete Camp in North Carolina.
Schaller has run the 40 in a fully automatic time of 4.89, he has squatted 360 in the weight room and he owns a 3.7 grade point average.
Scouting Report: Schaller has the ability to run routes, block and make leaping catches in traffic. Used to playing varsity despite being only 15 years old, his field presence makes him look much older. Known as a hard worker with a motor that never stops, he expects to get bigger, faster and taller.''
