Charlotte, NC: It is not very often that you get a player like Brennan Drummond come onto the football scene.

The Class of 2027 quarterback and safety is close to completing his eighth grade year at the Providence Day School in Charlotte, and Drummond has already posted some impressive performances in his young career.

How about a 2022 Carolina Bowl MVP award from the Eighth Grade Showcase Game, for starters?

Drummond lit up the contest for two scores and a two-point conversion, helping his team run out to a 30-0 victory in the New Year’s Eve contest. With that performance in the rear view mirror, Drummond will now get ready for his next challenge: helping Providence Day retain its NCISAA state title from 2022. The Chargers (12-1) avenged their only loss of the 2022 season (38-37), beating Charlotte Christian 55-13 in the final.

Drummond has already had a chance to practice and learn from North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year Jadyn Davis, and will go into the summer program ready to compete for snaps.

Drummond is also a star basketball player, and at 5-11 and still growing heading into ninth grade, he will want to help the Chargers win a seventh state title in 2024.

Drummond has also excelled off the playing field and hardwood: in the classroom, he is also a star performer, thanks to his tireless work ethic. That is something Drummond also brings to the offseason strength and conditioning programs, as well as his work at camps and showcases.

One of the scouts in attendance at the Carolina Bowl had nothing but praise for the young signal caller.

“When you see Brennan out there competing against kids his age, it is pretty apparent very early on that he is going right to the top. Firstly, he is already in one of the best programs to learn the game that there is at Providence Day: Brennan will get a huge opportunity to continue learning next to Jadyn Davis, in the anticipation that he will take over at some point in the near future.

“But his play in games, while important, is only a mere tip of the iceberg when you see how he conducts himself at practices and workouts. From talking to a few of his coaches, he is one of those ‘First in, last out’ players that coaches absolutely love. He has not yet hit high school, and you can already tell Brennan is going to be a physical specimen: he is already nearly six feet tall and 175 pounds. Wait until he starts growing and getting stronger in high school. As for his game, Brennan has very good mechanics already, and as you can see by his two touchdown runs during the Carolina Bowl, he has very good mobility and quickness. I am one of many people that are very interested to see how his four years of high school go, and would not be shocked to see him win a bunch of team and individual awards.”

Brennan has already visited with and has interest from:

  1. University of South Carolina

  2. University of North Carolina

  3. Georgia Tech
