Contact@GoMVB.com Princeton, NJ: If you have followed Mercer County (NJ) golf for the last decade, you will know how hard it is to break into the list of top players.

There are elite prep schools–Peddie won six titles in a row, then Pennington won two, while Lawrenceville won the 2022 edition–as well as some very good public schools such as West Windsor-Plainsboro South and North, Princeton, and Hopewell Valley.

The Hun school has made inroads, though, and finished just behind Lawrenceville last season. Michael Deussing is going to try to change that. He was one of three Hun players, including his brother Christian and the winner Jack Tarzy, to finish in the top 10 at last season’s county tournament.

That’s a pretty good accomplishment in his sophomore season. What makes it even more impressive is that he only started playing golf two years ago!

Now, Deussing is targeting the top spot next spring, and he will get a lot of practice in the seven months before the 2023 MCT event.

In the classroom, Deussing has a 4.0 GPA, and he has already enrolled in five AP classes at Hun.

Here is a scouting report on Deussing’s game from the reporter who covers golf for Mercer County:

“I watched him play in that county tournament last year, and he is just so calm. His swing looks effortless. He can crush the ball off the tee, his iron game is very good, and he is already pretty good at putting. I was stunned to hear he just started playing. He is already one of the best players in the area, and is a natural.

“I am really excited to see what he can do this season, and see if he can keep dropping his average.”
