Stroudsburg, PA: He has the talent, he has the numbers, and he has the pedigree. Now it's a matter of time before Stroudsburg (Pa.) senior Andre Reames picks the college of his choice to continue his career.

Despite seeing minimal duty for the first three games of the 2022 season for the 6-5 Mountaineers because of a hip injury, the 5-foot-7, 165-pounder collected 940 yards for an average of 7.07 yards per carry and 15 touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 84 yards.

He was upset with falling 60 yards shy of 1,000, a number he surpassed as a junior when he had 1,033 yards on 162 carries and 15 TDs. But in the first three games of the 2022 season, he was held out of full-time duty as a precaution and only carried the ball 16 times, a number he gets in one game and then some.

In the weight room, he benches 245 pounds and squats 405. He runs the 40 in 4.56.

Schools such as Yale, UMass, East Stroudsburg, Georgetown, New Hampshire, and others began to show interest during the season, but there were no offers.

That baffled Reames, who thought he had more than shown what he could do to attract the colleges. It also confused head coach Jim Miller, but the interest is now on the table.

"Adrian can play in college,'' said Miller. "In fact, we have two schools coming in today (Nov. 30th), Alvernia and Millersville, to talk about him, and tomorrow we have two more schools coming in, and I'm sure they will be asking about Andre. Some D3s and PSAC schools (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for D2 schools) are showing interest.

"Andre can definitely play on the college level. He has the speed and the vision of a college player.''

Notre Dame College, a nationally ranked Division 2 school in Ohio, showed interest early on, and that is a school Reames is hoping will re-kindle their relationship.

"I was talking to two schools, in particular, Millersville and Notre Dame'' said Reames. "They told me they would be in touch after the winter break, so I'm hopeful there will be offers. Notre Dame is a nationally ranked D2 school in Ohio.

Like many young players, Reames dreams of playing in the NFL.

"Sure, that would be great,'' said Reames, who moved from Hillside (NJ) to Stroudsburg in the third grade. "I come from a big football family. My uncle had once set the school record for most receiving yards at the University of Kentucky, and I have two cousins in the NFL. One cousin, Jalen Tabor, is a safety with the Seattle Seahawks, and another cousin is on the practice squad with the Browns.

"But I know that's a long shot. So I also have goals to go into my own business or study criminal justice. But I want to play football as long as I can.''

Another option for Reames is track and field. As a sprinter - 100, 200, and 4x100 relay - Reames had a fully automatic time of 11.02 in the 100, and he has also received college interest there. "Track is an option, but I'm a football player,'' said Reames. "If anything, I would love to do both.''

Reames feels his size could be holding him back, but with colleges taking a look at his latest video highlights and his upcoming 2022 summer highlights, he feels that will change.

"I can play,'' said Reames. "I think the colleges will see that once the recruiting heats up again.''

Some of Reames' accolades include:

  1. 4x All American

  2. 2022 Marines Corp MVP Award

  3. Pocono Record Player of The Week Andre Reames- 4TD's

  4. 1st Team EPC North Division Running Back

  5. Pocono Record Player to Watch 2022

  6. Mid-Season MVP

Scouting Report: ''Reames has a penchant for the end zone, and he can get there many ways. He has deceptive power to bounce off tacklers and is elusive enough to run around them. Once he breaks a tackle, he hits the open field like a gazelle and is tough to catch. His combination of speed and vision proved deadly in his final two years of high school.''
