TE/DE Brewer Could be on His Way to the Big Time ... And He’s Not Even in High School Yet FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 25, 2023 Contact@GoMVB.com Norwalk, IA: Someone will take notice of you when you are 6-3 and 205 pounds with a wingspan of 80 inches. But the attention will continue to grow when you prove you are not a project but rather an athletic specimen. Such is the case of Luke Brewer. Luke is already compiling a resume usually reserved for elite high school athletes.
· Prep Red Zone Top Prospect Class of 2027
· Selected to play on Team Iowa Elite
· Invited to play in the 2022 Army Bowl
· Invited out of a field of over 1,000 players to the University Michigan Al-American Camp
· 2022 USA Middle School All-American Watchlist
But Luke is only 14 years old and in the 8th grade!
Ryan Smith, CEO of Innovative Athletic Sports Performance as well as coach and trainer, said, "I've known Luke since he was like 7 or 8, and I can't say one bad thing about him, tremendous kid, even better person. He's ahead of the learning curve for someone his age. He is still learning all the movements, but he works so hard on his craft and strives to be the best. He is strong, fast, has great footwork ... he's the whole package.''
Brewer, who bench presses 205 and squats 250, appears athletically gifted. In the winter, he decided to give wrestling a try without any training. All Luke did was go undefeated in middle school. He is still determining if he will wrestle in high school because he is also pretty good at basketball, a sport he has been playing for a while.
Luke's father, Lester, who has a 15-year-old daughter who is a big-time Division 1 softball prospect, is unsure where his children's athletic prowess came from since he said he wasn't much of an athlete himself, but he is their biggest supporter.
"I'm just here for support,'' said Lester. "It's all up to Luke from here, but I know he puts in the work to become the best athlete he can be. He is up early in the morning working on wrestling, then he works hard on his basketball game and, of course, it's football every day.''
While Luke, who has a grade point average of 3.98, is being touted as a tight end, defense has not been ruled out of his future.
In fact, this is what Prep Red Zone said in a recent scouting report: "A 6-3 athlete that I all but had pegged for being a tight end prospect. I'm now having second thoughts after seeing recent clips of him playing outside.
"Linebacker/Defensive end/Edge, he's long and strong at over 200 pounds, which helps him create a lot of leverage. Feet, speed, and overall coordination need some improvement, but he's a football player with next-level ability.''
The next big question for Brewer is where he will attend high school - the local public high school in Norwalk or Dowling Catholic.
"Whichever school he attends, the colleges will take notice and find him. But they are fighting over him. Neither one wants to lose him.''
