Contact@GoMVB.com Amory, MS: When Kobe Williams was a freshman at Aberdeen High School in Mississippi, he thought he was going to be a basketball player.

After all, he was named after the late great Kobe Bryant by his father, a pretty good hoopster himself who was obviously a Kobe Bryant fanatic.

But a funny thing happened to Williams along his journey to hardwood heaven - he kept getting bigger and bigger.

Now a senior at rival Armory High School - he transferred prior to his junior year - Williams is still a valuable member of the basketball team, but his attention has turned to football.

At 6-6 and 300 pounds - two inches and 35 pounds from his size as a frosh - he is a coveted offensive tackle for the Panthers, who are 8-1 with an eight-game winning streak. Oh, and when Aberdeen and Armory faced off in late October, it was Williams and Armory posting a 55-20 victory.

Williams, who has run as fast as 5.8 in the 40, bench presses 365 pounds and squats 545. He is also a member of the National Honor Society with a 3.86 grade point average.

With all that being said, he is becoming a heavily recruited player. Once his season highlight film is complete and sent out, he expects the offers to come pouring in.

As of now, he has one offer on the table, that from the University of Missouri. He has made official visits to:MississippiMississippi StateSouthern MississippiIndianaJackson State Other schools in contact with Williams include:TulaneSouthern AlabamaBaylorSouthwest OklahomaArkansas StateColumbiaHarvard

One school not on that list is Alabama, which is Williams' dream school, but make not mistake he’s still hopeful they will reach out.

Scouting report: "When Williams makes a block, it's usually highlight reel stuff as he not only stands his man up, but drives him until the play is whistled dead, sometimes 10 yards or more downfield. In pass protection or run protection, he is ready to go as soon as the ball is snapped with his feet already in motion. Athletic with size, strength and footwork, Williams has all the attributes an O-lineman needs.''
