Dominic Beninato Gets Ready for Junior Year Under Center at Colts Neck

Colts Neck, NJ: The Colts Neck football team was close in 2021.

The Cougars went 6-4, finishing second in the Shore Conference American standings to sectional runner-up Rumson-Fair Haven, and losing in the NJSIAA state tournament to eventual Central Jersey, Group 4 winners Winslow Township.

So how does Colts Neck make that jump from this close to over the line? Class of 2024 quarterback Dominic Beninato could be the answer.

The rising junior, who has run a laser verified 40 time of 4.7 seconds and even lower on the coach’s stopwatch, will try to go under center and lead the Cougars up the standings in the Shore Conference, and in the state tournament. He is ready to assume the leadership role on both offense and defense, and help his team turn a few of the close losses into victories.

Off the field, Beninato is a star in the classroom, with a 3.8 GPA that is sure to rise in the next few weeks as sophomore year second semester grades settle.

Here is a scouting report on Beninato from a Shore Conference coach who has seen him play:

“He is very quick with the ball in his hands, and can really beat you with his legs if he gets out of the pocket. But he is not only quick, he is fast, if you know what I mean. He can make the players miss, but is also really tough to catch when he gets in the open field. I think that makes him a dangerous cover cornerback as well: he has the pace to keep up with receivers off the line.

“I would expect him to step up to the next level very well in 2022 and make his team better.”
