Class of ‘24 WR Craig Davis Back in the Fold with High Expectations

New Orleans, LA: It was a good year on the football field for McDonogh 35 wide receiver Craig Davis in 2021.

The rising junior made the All-District First Team in New Orleans after a big campaign, and he is back to help the Roneagles make a deep run in the playoffs.

Oh, and maybe get himself a scholarship offer or two, maybe more.

The 16-year-old is 6’1”, 180 pounds, and has a 77-inch wingspan with 10-inch hands: those are some standout numbers for a wide receiver – college coaches love to acquire receivers that can reach over DBs and plus 3” wingspan over height means a lot. Davis has been working hard in the offseason to post even more impressive workout numbers - he already has a 32-inch vertical and a near 4.5 40 time, and those numbers should start to improve with another year in the weightroom.

But the impressive numbers do not stop there: Davis has a 3.7 GPA after four semesters, and is going to keep improving in the classroom as well. The future seems very bright for the big receiver.

Here is a scouting report on Davis from a coach:

“The first thing you see is his size, and his wingspan. He is able to go up and get some passes that other receivers can’t. That is so important - he makes his QB better, and his offense better. He is very quick, but also has pace to get behind defenders.

“Davis is also a very smart player with a very high football IQ. He learns new schemes so quickly. He runs routes well, and is a star in the classroom. There really is a lot to like about him, and he is a great person off the field. He is going to be a big-time player this year.”
